The story of Fabriano

The small, inland Italian town of Fabriano lives life at its own pace, but despite that, big things have been happening there ever since the 12th century. It lies in the region of Marche, not far from the port of Ancona, and since 2013 it has proudly held the title of UNESCO Creative City. We’re proud too, because we were able to help enliven its streets and courtyards with our benches. The town’s progressive traditions are continued by the current mayor, Gabriele Santarelli, who was not afraid of introducing contemporary design to its medieval architecture.

Join us on a tour through the historical nooks and crannies of Fabriano.

PIAZZA DEL COMUNE, PIAZZA PADELLA, Woody
This wide open square with its fountain is a traditional meeting place for Fabriano inhabitants during major events. An unconventional arrangement of Woody benches has become a ribbon stretching right across the square. For Fabriano, we chose the model with USB charging and the practical addition of durable all-steel tables for placing drinks, laptops or books.

PIAZZA 26 SETTEMBRE, eBlocq
The modern annex at the Palazzo Anagrafe del Comune has been fitted with eBlocq benches. They are perfect for anyone who drops in via bicycle. Six lockable boxes are built into the bench.

GIARDINI DEL POIO, Rivage
The famous Giardini del Poio form an oasis of green right in the heart of the town. They were opened to the public only recently, and at the reopening, Fabriano Mayor Gabriele Santarelli commented, “I think this space  deserves to be alive all the time, not just at special occasions.” An interesting and practical addition to the bench is its durable, all-steel table for placing drinks, laptops and books, perfect for the Poio gardens.

LOGGIATO SAN FRANCESCO, Stack
The elegant archway, originally built to join San Francesco Church with the Piazza del Comune, consists of 19 arches framing a beautiful view onto the triangular piazza with its fountain and the Pallazzo del Podesta. Its Renaissance architecture is perfectly outlined by chair and table sets from the Stack collection. You will recognize them from our range of other projects utilizing its unmistakeable pastel colors. Here we’ve gone for a combination of wooden slats and a dark brown galvanized steel structure.

PINACOTECA MOLAJOLI, Manta
The history of the Molajoli art gallery dates back to 1862, and its strong walls contain important records of the work of Fabriano artists from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. A perfect spot to reflect on a town so rich in history and art can be found in the inner courtyard, where you will find a number of multifunctional Manta benches.

The contrast in styles stimulates your attention, while still fostering a calm atmosphere for people to stop and relax.
