Custom projects are a welcome challenge. We accepted the challenge for the Moravské Square revitalization project in Brno, Czech Republic. In cooperation with the architectural studio Consequence Forma, we provided the plaza with the new dominant feature, an eye-catching bench. It is 394 feet long with a total weight of 20 tons. The designing and manufacturing took more than 2 600 hours.

The elliptical bench (the authors are Ing. arch. March. Janica Šipulová, Ing. arch. Martin Sládek, Ing. arch. Jan Schleider) holds and frames the central ellipse of the park. The ellipse consists of a water area with changing features. The ellipse can be covered by a layer of water, misting spray nozzles, or classic fountains. The central ellipse may also be used for theatrical or musical events. For an excellent dramatic experience, visiting the bench in the evening is a must. The bench is lit from below, along the front edge. In addition, the project also features never before offered down lighting beneath our Preva Urbana benches.

The transformation of the square in Brno has been discussed since the end of World War II when the German House was removed from the public space. The result shows that if designers, contractors, investors, and public officials cooperate, their joint efforts can lead to a world-class public space. Brno, the Moravian metropolis and the second largest city in the Czech Republic, certainly deserves this public plaza with the perfect accompanying public furniture.
