Hotel and Restaurant in the City Center – Imperial Riding School

The sensitive adaptation of a historic building from 1729 into a public and private space attracts the attention of city residents and tourists. The original imperial riding school was transformed over time into the largest cinema in Austria's capital. Today, it has shaken off the layers of time and under the direction of London architects from Goddard Littlefair studio in collaboration with Vienna's BWM Designers & Architects studio, it has transformed into a luxury hotel with restaurants, wellness, sauna, and also a meeting place for city residents.

Visitors to the hotel interior will discover details inspired by horse riding. Horseshoe motifs, leather reins, saddle-evoking furniture, and other elements blend with the original architecture and atmosphere reminiscent of old cinemas and art nouveau. The public space between Ungargasse and Bahngasse streets was handled by landscapers from Lindle + Bukor studio. Atypical backlit Landscape benches follow green areas of the square and offer comfortable seating to restaurant visitors.
