Have you ever heard of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World? According to legend, theBabylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II ordered the construction of the gardens, a breathtaking building covered with plants and trees, as a gift for his wife, who was missing the green hills of her homeland. In all likelihood, this was the world's first green roof and the first ever attempt to unite buildings and cities with nature.

The need to bring more greenery to cities is now more important than ever, and one way to do this is by seeding roof spaces with plants. That's why you will find an option for a green roof on a number of our shelter ranges. This includes:
Aureo and Geomere bus shelters
Aureo velo bike shelters
Pin shelters and pavilions (on both round and square models)
Edge bike shelters
– the Cuby roofing system

By using sustainable rainwater and drought-loving plants from the sedum family, our green roofs require absolutely no maintenance. They don't need to be watered, and no one will ever have to climb up on the roof to "mow the lawn". The vegetation layer lies on a waterproof panel in a special bath, and drainage is achieved in several ways, such as through the legs of the shelter. A little piece of nature with a big impact.

Advantages of green roofs:
– They absorb up to half of the rainwater, which helps cool the environment as it evaporates.
– They reduce the risk of drains overflowing.
– They cool the space beneath the shelter, as the temperature of the grass
never exceeds 77 ̊F.
– They help reduce the amount of dust in the surrounding area.
– They improve the quality of the living environment by enriching the air with oxygen.
– They help improve the microclimate in heavily built-up areas with a lack of green space.
– They create a natural habitat for small animals, which is an important factor in the greenification of living spaces, especially in cities.

This is part of our mission for more beautiful cities. From a bird's eye view, what's above your head is still at the heart of the city.
